Evaluation

Skills acquisition
In graphics we learned how to use photoshop and Illustrator and produced work on these programmes. For Photoshop we made a film poster using pictures that we originally took ourselves and then put them on to a background that we found on the internet and made an Expendables remake. But first of all we started Photoshop by finding an image of a young woman and using tools to make her look like an air brushed model off of a magazine. We used tools such as the 'healing brush tool' to get rid of marks and blemish's off her face and then we put a blurred layer over her face to make her have a smoother looking finish on her face and make her look more air brushed. We also used the software illustrator to make an animated version of ourselves so using this we made an outline around our features and matched the colours to match our skin tone.

Research and ideas stage
Firstly we analysed some film posters in this we looked at the posters and how they were effective and how they were used to sell to the target audience. We then went on to see how fonts are used to add effect to certain genre films so a horror film would have a gory, shocking kind of font so it would fit in to it. We also looked at different genres of films to give us an idea of what we could do so I then decided to do a romance genre for my film from doing lots of research about it and what you need to make a typical romance film poster and DVD sleeve.

Made paper designs
I also made some paper designs of three different ideas I could use for my poster. I drew out some ideas so i had a variety of chose. By doing this it helped me when it came to choosing my final design for my film poster.

Digital design stage
After sketching ideas and analysing i worked through the process of the digital design stage. I did this stage by analysing existing film posters and seeing how they use certain poses and the different fonts and layouts they use for this type of genre of film.

Evaluation of final design
I have achieved what I wanted to and I made a romance genre film poster and DVD sleeve. I'm not very happy wight he way my film poster has come out but I am happy about my DVD sleeve as it came out the way I wanted it to. From doing this I have learnt more skills on photoshop and I know how to make a professional looking film poster and DVD sleeve.

Keying out backgrounds with green-screen

First you go to Select option at the top of the mac and select Colour Range.

This then opens up a new box which allows you to select the part of the image you don’t want.

After you have selected the part of the image you do not want it will select and you then delete the part of the image that has been selected.

When deleted you will get a clear background which allows you to put it against a different background of your choice.

Editing, selection and processing - Internet research

JPG
JPG is a file extension for a lossy graphics file. The JPEG file extension is used interchangeably with JPG. JPEG stands for Joint Photographic Experts Group who created the standard. JPG files have two other formats, which are JPG/Exif.

TFF
The TFF file extension is initially made for the capable versions of Macintosh operating systems (Mac computers). Files of the TFF format are defined as TrueType Font, which are modules containing alphabet character sets to be used under its text generating applications, like Microsoft Word and others which need text.

PNG
Portable Network Graphics (PNG), is a raster graphics file format that supports lossless data compression. PNG was created as an improved replacement for Graphics Interchange Format (GIF), and is the most used lossless image compression format on the Internet.

BMP
The BMP file format, also known as bitmap image file or device independent bitmap file format or simply a bitmap, is a raster graphics image file format used to store bitmap digital images, independently of the display device, especially on Microsoft Windows.

PSD
A file with the PSD file extension is an Adobe Photoshop Document file. Other types of files may also use the PSD file extension.
AI
Adobe Illustrator Artwork (AI) is a file format developed by Adobe Systems for representing single-page vector-based drawings in either the EPS or PDF formats. Adobe Illustrator uses the .ai filename extension.
WMF

Windows Metafile (WMF) is an image file format. Windows Metafiles are intended to be portable between applications and may contain both vector graphics and bitmap components.
